The Basics of Online Bingo

Online bingo involves a slight modification of the game structure of land-based bingo after which it is patterned. Online bingo is strongly a game of chance. Despite its lack of need for strategy unlike other casino popular casino games like blackjack and poker, internet bingo is no less popular. Other than the cash at stake and fun, one of the main attraction of online bingo is that it allows its players to socially network with other players.

One of the game features of online bingo that is absent from and disallowed in land-based bingo is chatting. Online bingo rooms have chat applications. A chat application works like an instant messenger allowing players to talk with other players while playing.

To get into the game, you begin by registering an account. Depending on the bingo site you have selected, you may then be required either to download the game software or you may opt to play using the no download Java or Flash version.

If you opt for a real cash game (there are also free bingo games), your will be required to make an initial cash deposit.

To play online bingo, you select a bingo room you want to join from the list that will be displayed on site page.

Inside a room, you will find information such as current number of players, the number of cards you can play, the speed rate of drawing of numbers, and more.

There are two types of online bingo: 75-ball bingo and 90-ball bingo.

If you play 75-ball bingo, you will be using a 5 x 5 card. The card is divided into 25 randomly numbered squares. The numbers are anything between 1 and 75. Above each vertical line of squares are letters B, I, N, G, and O. The center square is unnumbered and this is known as free space.

In online bingo, drawing and calling of numbers is done by a random number generator. The object of the game is to form a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal pattern by matching called numbers with the numbers on your card.

If you have a pattern, you press the Bingo button found at the bottom of each card. The system will then check and confirm if you have indeed a Bingo. If you do, other players will be notified and another game round will be started.

A 90-ball bingo card is a grid of 3 rows and 9 columns. Every card, however, has only 15 numbered squares. The rest have no numbers. A 90-ball bingo card has no free center space.

The patterns you need to form in a 90-ball bingo game are: a single horizontal line, 2 lines, or a full house, which means all the numbers have to be marked.

As an internet game based on land-based bingo, online bingo is still strongly a game of chance. A bingo card is randomly numbered, and numbers are randomly drawn. You need to have a keen eye to make sure that you don't miss matching a called number with a number on your card. But that doesn't mean online bingo is all gamble. You can talk with your opponents about the latest episode of Grey's Anatomy, or you can congratulate a winning player. If you reach a pattern, don't forget to press the Bingo button. They'll send you, too, a congratulatory note.
